What is FIBA?
FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Basketball) is the international governing body for the sport of basketball. Founded in 1932, FIBA is responsible for overseeing and developing basketball worldwide, setting the official rules of the game, and organizing major international competitions. These include the FIBA Basketball World Cup, continental championships, Olympic qualifying tournaments, and youth events across men’s and women’s basketball. FIBA also manages the official world rankings for national teams and works to grow the game at all levels, from grassroots programs to elite international play, helping unite the global basketball community under one standard of competition.
